Join Brenda Gael Smith for a fresh look at a classic quilting motif - the X or cross block. This workshop covers a variety of improvisational piecing techniques; regular and irregular block compositions; and the effective use of positive and negative space. Suitable for all skill levels.

This workshop covers a range of quilt finishing techniques from the classic continuous mitred binding (without bulges!) to the ever useful pillow case escape hatch; the artful facing finish to informal satin stitch edging; the pop tart finish to prairie points and more.

It looks hard, but its really quite simple, in fact you can't make a mistake. You will begin with a print of a photo of shoes which is fused and ironed to a background. Assemble the quilt and free motion stitch as if you are drawing. But there are a few tricks to learn…you will astound your friends and marvel at the results.
