Annual Guild Challenge

Each year the Guild holds a challenge. The quilts are premiered at the Annual General Meeting and then form part of a travelling suitcase exhibition.

The theme for the 2012 Guild Challenge is PEARL, the traditional 30th anniversary stone.  Please interpret this word in any way you wish.

Conditions of Entry

• There is no limit to the colours, method of construction or designs that may be used.
• A quilt is defined as having 3 layers.
• The finished size of the quilt is 60cm X40 which may hang either way.
• Hanging sleeve to be attached to the back of the quilt and should be 6 cm deep
• Each quilt must have a label securely attached to the back giving the quilt name, quilt makers  name and address
• Entry is limited to individual financial members of The Quilters’ Guild of NSW Inc.
• Completed quilts to be sent to the Guild office by the 7th September 2012
• Judges appointed by the committee will make awards for first and second place.
• All quilts will be displayed at the Annual General Meeting of The Quilters’ Guild of NSW Inc on the 13th October 2012. Viewers’ choice will be selected at this meeting
• Due care will be taken, the Guild accepts no responsibility for any damages to the quilts. If you wish to insure your quilt, please make arrangements with your own insurance company.
• The committee reserves the right to photograph, and permit to be photographed, all items for publicity, publication, the Guild archives and for other appropriate purpose (this may include promotional stationery to be used as a Guild fundraiser)
• All quilts will be retained by the Guild for inclusion in a Suitcase Exhibition which will be available to groups on request.  The exhibition period will be for approximately 26 months, quilts will be returned at the conclusion of the exhibition period.

Entry forms will be in the Template and on the web site in June 2012.

Fertile Imagination

In association with Expertise Events, the Guild is arranging another challenge - Fertile Imagination - which will be featured at the 2012 Craft and Sewing Shows at Rosehill and Newcastle and the Guild meetings in March and May. This is a fabric challenge with a finished size of 50x50cm.

Completed quilts and entry forms must be received in the Guild office by 20 February 2012.
